Unit 1 Math Test
Good morning parents! Just a quick update on our upcoming test. All students will have a Unit 1 Math Test on Thursday, April 18, 2013. They will have a study guide with vocabulary, tons of examples, practice problems, etc. that we will complete in class and collect before the test on Thursday for a grade. They will also have a packet of everything from Unit 1 to help guide them. Please have them review the notes, do extra practice problems, have their glossaries together and ready, etc. before the test. This is a very large grade so early in the trimester as this test is worth 50 pts. Feel free to check out the practice etc. from our textbook website at Big Ideas to practice and check out or new book. Also please feel free to call with any questions.

Mean, Median, Mode, Range Quiz
Good morning parents! Unless students were absent, or the quizzes were unfinished, Mean, Median, Mode, and Range Quizzes are in the gradebook. Most students did well! However, if your child did not, there is an opportunity for a retake. Students should pick up the notes review sheet and practice sheet and return these by 2/14/13. Students can then have another go at the quiz. It will not be the same quiz but will have the same concepts covered. Want a headstart on this lovely Ice Day? I will link the notes and practice page in the math links on the left hand side of the page!
Also, be looking for an updated grade print out for math in your child's planner. This will list any missing work or make up work that a student needs to do and turn in. The end of the trimester is coming quickly!!! Again, any student that is missing three or more assignments not due to absences, will receive an academic inactivity detention. Hopefully we can start catching them up there.

Quick Reminders
Happy Thursday! We just wanted to send out a few more quick reminders this week!
First, our t-shirt order forms are due tomorrow. Anyone wanting a t-shirt must have the form filled in (there are more in Mrs. Suszek's room) and money turned in for tomorrow.
Second, tomorrow is our dance! Thanks to all those that volunteered their time and baking skills! I hope that we have an amazing turn out.
Third, parents, don't forget to save those Box Tops for our school! Our Renaissance committee saves, packages, and counts box tops for a little extra money to fund No Detention Conventions, Green Ticket Drawings, End of the Year Bike Drawings, Gold Card parties, and much more. This group really encourages our students to persevere academically and behaviorally! Let's keep rewarding those good kids!
Finally, next week is Spirit Week.
* Monday is PJ Day - please have students wear CLEAN pajamas, slippers, etc. that are school appropriate. Don't forget tennis shoes just in case.
* Tuesday is Dress like your Parents day.
* Wednesday is Hunting Clothes Day - please no gun related images etc.
* Thursday - we have off for Fall Harvest.
* Friday - is Duct Tape Day - please wear normal clothes under your duct tape attire.
Good luck to all those hunters!!!

Dance Volunteers Needed
Good Morning! Sixth grade is sponsoring a fiesta-themed November dance. The money raised from this dance will be used for academic enrichment activities. This is a 6th grade dance only.
We need parent volunteers to help at the dance. Parents are needed to work the concession stand, help with ticket sales, help monitor bathrooms, and provide supervision. The dance is Friday, November 9th from 2:20 - 4:20pm. Parent volunteers need to be here by 2:00 and report to the attendance office. If you can help, send a note in with your child, or e-mail Mr. Bromund at bromundl@alpenaschools.com. Let us know if there is a particular job you prefer.
Can't come the day of the dance but still want to help? We are in need of donations of snacks, baked goods, and beverages to sell at our concession stand. You can send in home baked items, or individually prepackaged snacks. As far as beverages, we would like individual portioned things such as Capri Sun, juice boxes, water bottles, etc. Beverages and prepackaged items should be sent in between Tuesday 11/6 and Thursday 11/8 so we can plan ahead and know if we need to purchase additional drinks. Homemade or perishable items can be sent in on the day of the dance, Friday, November 9th.
All kids who have a parent volunteer or send in an item will receive an extra pinata raffle ticket!!
Thanks for your help in making our dance a success.

Team 6A - T-shirts!
Happy Friday parents! I am just dropping a quick note to let you know that our Team Logo and Motto have been chosen. We of course are The Beacons and Elizabeth Chechlowski's Logo was voted the best. As of today, students have a Team T-shirt order form in their planner. The shirts will be red with black writing. Cost is $7.00 for a t-shirt and $17.00 for a sweatshirt. Students have the opportunity to personalize their shirt for an additional $4.00. Last year, the t-shirts ran a bit large. I am not positive if that will continue this year. Money should be returned to Mrs. Suszek by November 9th. If students do purchase a shirt, we will wear these every Friday and on Team Days. These would make great Christmas gifts!!!
